Sports Concussions

Identified in 1928, by Dr. Harrison Martland as "punch drunk syndrome." He saw difficulty with balance, speech and coordination in boxers.

More recently, the movie, "Concussion," raised awareness of sports-related concussions by illustrating the mental disturbances of Mike Webster and Justin Strelczyk. The movie focused on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), which is defined as repeated mild traumatic brain injuries.
